Unique t-shirts that combine design, identity and sustainable production
In search of a product that can be produced in larger quantities, but still retains its authenticity and recognizability, I developed a special sampling approach which connects national symbols of Croatia with with a modern visual expression. The result is a line AOP t-shirt (all-over print) which portray Croatia through colors, tones and experiences — as a contemporary symbol of a country known for its diversity.
More than a chessboard
At first glance, the patterns may resemble pixelated images, but it's about carefully selected color tones which create abstract entities. Every observer can see something different in them — the sea, mountains, cities, or travel memories.
Although abstract, square compositions intentionally associated with experience of Croatia, its energy and richness of colors.
The use of squares is inspired by Croatian pop-cultural folklore, mostly sports jerseys with a recognizable checkered pattern. For this reason, these shirts are designed as perfect tourist souvenir — wearable, modern and emotionally recognizable.
Sustainable and local production
From the beginning I wanted the t-shirts to be made responsibly. I have set three basic requirements:
- 100% cotton material,
- environmentally friendly production,
- made in Croatia.
She met all three conditions. Varaždin company Grafko-Caspar doo., which uses water-based dyes and prints on cotton textiles with OEKO-TEX certificate. This ensures high quality, but also responsibility towards the environment and the local community.
Modern symbol of Croatia
These AOP T-shirts are recognizable by patterns that cover the entire surface. The squares are graded in brightness and create a rhythm that is reminiscent of a checkerboard, but is a completely new experience — contemporary, abstract and personal.
Each shirt brings a modern interpretation of Croatian identity, without losing the recognisability of the symbol.
The first collection includes six sets of colors, and each subsequent season will bring new color variations — a new "image of Croatia" seen through the personal perception and emotion of the wearer.
Fashion item and souvenir in one
These shirts are not just original souvenir, but also versatile fashion piece. Due to the richness of tones and gradations, they are easily combined with different clothing styles and create harmonious fashion ensembles.
They gain special dynamics in in changing light conditions — for example on music festivals and nightclubs. As the light changes, the colors on the shirt constantly transform. The shirt becomes living canvas, reflects the environment and turns color into an experience.
